The declaration was made because all of the properties are subject to repeated flood damage. About 85 percent of the homes are located in the vicinity of West Eighth Street and Indiana and Ohio avenues.

The City Council and Plan Commission must also approve the plan before the city can access the Community Development Block Grant funds.

New Hope Services Inc. conducted the survey that was used to determine the properties' eligibility for the program.

Wireless Internet The Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association has approved $25,000 to partially fund a three-year, $150,000 wireless Internet pilot project in downtown Jeffersonville.

Wireless Internet would be available from Restaurant Row, in the 700 block of West Riverside Drive, and east on Riverside to Spring Street, then north on Spring Street to about Eighth Street.

The Redevelopment Commission will be asked to consider about $75,000 in funding and the City Council will be asked to provide $50,000, both over three years.

If the project is successful, it could be expanded.
