Redevelopment Commission |
The Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission has
declared 23 properties as areas in need of
redevelopment, which is the first step in
obtaining $2.5 million in
Community Development Block Grant funds from
the
Indiana Housing & Community Development
Authority for the purchase of the homes and
the relocation of those who live in them. The
declaration was made because all of the
properties are subject to repeated flood damage.
About 85 percent of the homes are located in the
vicinity of West Eighth Street and Indiana and
Ohio avenues.
The City Council and Plan Commission must
also approve the plan before the city can access
the
Community Development Block Grant funds.
New Hope Services Inc. conducted the survey
that was used to determine the properties'
eligibility for the program. |

Council will be asked to provide $50,000, both
over three years.
If the project is successful, it could be
expanded. Read more about the city's Wi-Fi
