Jeffersonville CityPride, the beautification arm of the City of Jeffersonville, will hold a lawn party Thursday, June 6th at 4:00 PM at Preservation Park on Market Street between Mulberry Street and Spring Street. This party will serve as the grand opening for our Bunny Croquet installation at the park. The installation includes large bunny topiaries with oversized croquet mallets and balls. The project included installation of irrigation throughout the park; planting of a bee and butterfly bed; reconstruction of the raingarden built in 2010 as part of a Supplemental Environmental project to the Consent Decree with the Environmental Protection Agency; installation of new landscaping for Preservation Station; and planting of other landscaping throughout the park.
The improvements to Preservation Park are intended to re-establish the space as a family park by including whimsical art pieces and encouraging use of the park for lawn games and picnics.
The party will include remarks by Mayor Mike Moore at 4:15 PM, informal lawn games, and lemonade.
The Bunny Croquet project was accomplished in part through allocated CityPride funds from the Jeffersonville general fund. The remainder of the funding was provided by these generous sponsors:
Steel Dynamics, Inc.
Jacobi Toombs and Lanz
Rabbit Hole Distillery
Heaven Hill Brands
Walnut Ridge Nursery
The Koetter Group
The Estopinal Group
Old 502 Winery
Steel Dynamics, Inc. also provided generous labor to assist in installing the croquet features.
