The Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association & the City of Jeffersonville are happy to announce the grand opening of the LouVelo Bike Share expansion into Downtown Jeffersonville.
In November 2018, a team from the City of Jeffersonville and LouVelo installed three bike share stations in Downtown Jeffersonville. They are located at Big Four Station, on Spring Street at Riverside Drive and on Riverside Drive in Restaurant Row. While these stations have been active over the winter, this grand opening celebration will officially kick off the bike share expansion into Jeffersonville.
This project intends to further the connection between the cities of Louisville and Jeffersonville via the Big Four Bridge, by allowing seamless shared bicycle usage for residents and visitors on both sides of the Ohio River.
With the system in place, residents and visitors can check out and ride bicycles between any of the three new stations in Jeffersonville and any of Louvelo’s 34 stations in Louisville.
This expansion was made possible with funds from the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Zone to purchase the equipment. Maintenance of the system will be provided by Cyclehop, LLC through a contract with the City of Jeffersonville.
The grand opening ceremony will be held on Monday, April 1 at 3:30pm at the bike share station at the base of the Big Four Bridge. Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore, UEA Board Members and Louisville Councilwoman, Barbara Sexton, will be on hand to cut the ribbon on this new project.
To further celebrate this event, Louisville Metro and Jeffersonville are making LouVelo free to ride. From Thursday morning to Sunday night (March 28‐31), all initial bike share fees will be free (although overage charges still apply).
