Conventional wisdom encourages entrepreneurs to “build it and they will come” and that’s what is happening in Jeffersonville. “The construction phase of the new East End bridge will bring additional workers to and through our city every day that have dollars in their pocket to spend with our local merchants. That’s good news for everyone in Jeffersonville. Our merchants are ready to welcome them and may potentially need more workers to accommodate this growth over the next few years,” said Mayor Mike Moore. As Governor Pence said on his recent visit to our area, “roads mean jobs and bridges mean jobs”. Speaking of roads, River Ridge Commerce Center recently announced that local officials at the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville and River Ridge Commerce Center are collaborating to create a Heavy Haul Road and Rail Line that will connect River Ridge to the port, near the location of the new East End Bridge. This transportation corridor will be another key reason why more manufacturers in the steel and automotive sectors will choose River Ridge Commerce Center – which will bring more jobs to Jeffersonville. Jeffersonville is the premiere city in the entire Midwest for manufacturers to locate due to our adjacency to both the I-65 corridor and the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville. Catamaran Corporation agrees with that assessment and has announced it will leverage Jeffersonville’s strategic location and make River Ridge Commerce Center the home for its new facilities which will bring 200 more jobs to Jeffersonville.
