The City of Jeffersonville is in strong financial position with healthy fund balances and acceptable financial statements, state auditors recently said.

The Indiana State Board of Accounts (SBA) recently presented the city’s audit report for the year ending December 31, 2017.  The SBA gave the City a clean, or unmodified, opinion, meaning the financial statements fairly present the financial position of the City.

“This is excellent news.  It’s the best audit results the City has had in several years,” said Jeffersonville Controller Heather Metcalf.  “We’ve worked very hard to get here.  I’m thrilled to hear that the State has found no irregularities in its review of our financials.”

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore complimented the City’s finance department for its exemplary work.

“We have a tremendous team that takes the financial stewardship of tax dollars very serious,” said Moore. “Along with the city council, our City departments strive every day to earn the trust of the taxpayers.  Considering where we started seven years ago, this is one of the best audit results any city could receive.  It just shows what teamwork can accomplish. I’m proud of everyone who played a role in making it happen.”
