The Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission voted this afternoon to provide $20,000.00 to assist in the construction of a new boys’ and girls’ soccer field at Jeffersonville High School. The funds will allow the project to include a new scoreboard at the facility.
“This is the part of my job I love the most, giving back and building better communities,” Redevelopment Commission Vice President Sophia O’Coffey said. “This makes our students and our city stronger.”
The new turf field is currently under construction and is slated to be completed by the end of September.
“This is one more tool in the shed that makes Jeff special,” Mayor Mike Moore said. “My dad always said, ‘leave it better than you found it’ and we’re doing that.”
The funds will come from Tax Increment Financing.
“When we help fund our schools with capital improvement projects like this one, it’s promoting economic development by attracting new residents to Jeff,” Moore said.
