Mission Statement

The mission of the Jeffersonville Street Department is to provide the highest quality of services to our residents, while doing so in a responsible, safe, and efficient manner.  

Did you know?

The Street Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 350 miles of streets within the City.  Our employees work closely with several other City departments to provide a positive impact to the many residents and guests of our City.  We are very proud of our hard-working employees, and always look for ways to improve the services we provide.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Resurfacing several streets annually, while replacing curbing where needed
  • Maintaining current roadways by repairing potholes, crack sealing, and striping of roadways
  • Chipper trucks, claw trucks, and yard waste trucks to remove limbs, yard waste, and brush in residential areas
  • Street sweeping
  • Tree trimming, mowing, and vegetation management in public right-of-ways.
  • Mowing City right-of-way areas
  • Installing and maintaining street and traffic signage
  • Winter operations with our fleet of snow and ice fighting trucks
  • Provide barricades and traffic control devices for the many festivals, concerts, and special events the city provides throughout the year.
  • Respond to traffic accidents, fires, power outages, flooding and other emergencies where barricades or other assistance is needed.
  • Assist in cleaning storm drains prior-to and during storms
  • Pick up litter throughout the City

The visibility of our traffic signs and signals are extremely important.  If you see a sign that is being blocked by tree branches, contact our office at (812)285-6455.

The City offers a program where residents pay 50% of the cost of a new concrete driveway approach and the City pays the remaining 50% (while funds last).  Contact our office for further information at (812)285-6455.

Please call 812-285-6455 to report potholes or problems with a street. Reports should include specific information on the location of the problem.

If a street light is out in your neighborhood, please report the outage to Duke Energy (1-800-521-2232) or Clark County REMC (812-246-3316), depending on which utility provides electric service to your neighborhood.

Street sweeping takes places on the day following your neighborhood’s regular trash pick-up. Cars should not be parked on the street on these days. Street sweepers do not run when the temperature is below freezing. 

DON’T FORGET THAT YOU CANNOT BLOW LEAVES IN THE STREET FOR PICK UP! THEY MUST BE TREATED LIKE ALL OTHER YARD WASTE!!
