Charlestown Pike: Holmans Lane to Utica-Sellersburg Road
Motorists should expect a soft closure at I-265 and a hard closure at the railroad tracks near the soccer fields. This will be a rolling, leapfrog closure, affecting 300 to 400 feet of roadway at a time.
- Residents on the west side of Charlestown Pike with access to Cooper’s Lane should use it for their commute.
- Residents without access to Cooper’s Lane will be permitted inside the construction zone, though the direction of travel may change intermittently throughout the project.
- Emergency services (EMS) will have access at all times.
- The City is coordinating with Greater Clark County Schools, and no changes to pick-up or drop-off locations or times are expected.
- Trash service will continue as usual for all residents along this corridor.
- During non-work hours, the entire corridor will be open to local traffic in both directions.
Charlestown Pike: Utica-Sellersburg Road to Salem Noble Road
Starting Monday, March 3rd:
- Residents of Raintree Ridge or Windy Pines—as well as anyone with access to Shungate Road—should use Shungate Road for a consistent commute.

- Beginning March 3rd, southbound travel on Charlestown Pike will be prohibited.
- Southbound vehicles will be rerouted to Utica-Sellersburg Road for project site access.
- Signs will be posted at Salem Noble and Utica-Sellersburg to indicate this change.
- Door-to-door fliers will be distributed by the end of the week to residents directly on Charlestown Pike and within Redtail Ridge.
- Redtail Ridge residents must exit via Redtail Ridge and travel north for their daily commute.
Service Access:
- Trash service, USPS, and school buses will enter Charlestown Pike from Utica-Sellersburg Road and exit at Salem Noble at all times.
- All service providers have been notified of these changes.
Utica-Sellersburg Road
While this roadway is now open to all traffic, we acknowledge that the pavement remains rough in some areas. The contractor intends to complete paving soon, once asphalt plants reopen after the winter shutdown and weather conditions allow.
There needs to be a stop / do not block intersection sign on Salem Noble at the Shungate intersection to allow residents to get out in a timely manner with all the added traffic diverting and coming from out of town to work in the industrial park. It has become an issue for Jeffersonville residents in the 3 neighborhoods that exit onto Shungate.
I spoke with both the City Engineer and City Council Reps. I specifically asked for STOP signs on Utica-Sellersburg Road (BEFORE the tracks headed toward Charlestown Pike, and at Shungate headed towards Utica). I was told this could not be done.
I also asked for a STOP sign on Salem-Noble Rd at Shungate (headed toward the highway). I was told the City wanted one there, but the COUNTY denied it for some reason. People need to call, email, and go to meetings or this won’t change.
I have also asked Jeff PD for extra patrols on Shungate because people are driving 60mph, but I have yet to pass a single officer.
This whole thing is a ridiculous mess.
Is there anyway you can stop the dump trucks and semis from going down Shungate? It is our only way out of our subdivision and the road is to narrow for the big trucks
It is nice to have Utica sellersburg open now
They are finished right?
I’d really appreciate if the road crew quit hitting the water main. Twice in 2 weeks?
They closed the road at the bottom of the hill by Cooper’s lane, so Red Tail Ridge residents have no way of getting to our subdivision. Unless we can now travel south bound from Salem Noble? We were not given any updates regarding this change. Please update us on our new route so Red Tail Ridge residents who only have one entrance into our subdivision know which way we are supposed to travel.
An entire entrance to Landsberg Cove has been blocked for 2 days. I have had multiple deliveries cancel or reschedule. The construction crew have no idea how long they will take. The road is not passable during work hours, and the only way out of the neighborhood requires you to take Utica Sellersburg to 62. This adds a considerable amount of time on to commutes that require use of Veterans. There was absolutely no mention of this in the plans. Moreover, Watson water has failed to mention an outages to customers and they are becoming more frequent during this project.
Communication has been HORRIBLE on this project. Not sure who to blame for that, but a little coordination and notification could go a LONG way.
Please Update this!! It was last updated in FEBRUARY.
